Favorite Plant Place began with a lifelong love of plants, rooted in family, curiosity, and hands-on experience.

Growing up on a small farm in rural Illinois, our founder was surrounded by acres of corn and soybeans—but it was her grandmothers, both passionate gardeners, who first sparked her interest in horticulture. From an early age, she learned that plants are more than decoration—they’re something you nurture, learn from, and grow alongside.

That passion deepened in high school, when she was gifted a large number of surplus plants from a landscape designer. With the help of a close friend, she planted every one of them in her mother’s backyard. Over the years, watching those plants take root, flourish, and mature reinforced a simple truth: caring for plants brings lasting joy.

Over the next two decades, her personal collection grew to several hundred plants, each tended with patience, curiosity, and care. Along the way, she gained extensive hands-on knowledge in plant care, propagation, and design—experience that ultimately became the foundation of Favorite Plant Place.

Today, Favorite Plant Place is a reflection of that journey. It’s a space created for fellow plant lovers—whether you’re just getting started or expanding an established collection. Every plant, planter, and piece of décor is chosen or designed with intention, inspired by years of learning what helps plants (and people) thrive.
